A longtime player from Burtonsville, known only by his nickname “Bag of the Money,” scored a $50,000 prize on the Money Bags scratch-off, marking his third major payout, Maryland Lottery officials announced.
The Montgomery County man, who previously won $10,000 and another $50,000 prize in the past, recently claimed his latest windfall.
Unlike his earlier winnings, which he invested in the stock market, this time, he has a more practical plan for the cash.
“This time, it’s going into my house,” he said. “The stock market’s not so good these days.”
The lucky winner purchased his $10 ticket at Sagar Beer and Wine on South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg and was “extremely happy” when he realized he’d won again, officials said.
For now, he’s keeping his latest jackpot under wraps, sharing the news only with family members.
While he plans to take a short break from playing, he says he’ll eventually get back to his favorite hobby—including his love for Racetrax.
His winning ticket is the first of four $50,000 second-tier prizes available in the Money Bags game, which launched in February.
The jackpot remains up for grabs, with five $250,000 top prizes and 24 $10,000 prizes still waiting to be claimed.
